Mobile broadband has revolutionized our Internet experience. As more and more people are logging on to the Internet on the go, the need for a faster connection has become imperative, what with all the music downloads, video streaming and other Internet activities that consumes bandwidth. Thanks to mobile broadband, the bandwidth that is being delivered to consumers increased. Broadband actually refers to a term that pertains to a wide array of frequencies in a certain transmission system. If the bandwidth is larger, so does the frequency.

In general, the whole idea of having a broadband connection is to have a "high-speed" connection to the Internet. Being "high-speed" means having a high rate of data transmission. But too often, the mobile broadband speed of a Internet service provider does not measure up to what is advertised, leaving broadband users frustrated. While there are legitimate reasons for slow data transmission, such as traffic management or software on the computer, there are times that a slow mobile broadband speed is unacceptable and is due to poor service.

What to do about this? The first thing you may do is check your mobile broadband speed. It is important to determine the speed of your mobile broadband in order to calculate the necessary steps that you should take. The best way to check your mobile broadband speed is by using a credible speed checker.

Checking your broadband speed is easy, quick and most of all, it's free. You may do so now if like. This website gives you the opportunity to know your mobile broadband speed. Take note that it is to your advantage to test the speed of your mobile broadband. Annoyed that your every download takes so long to be finished? Always having trouble streaming music and videos to your computer or mobile device? Put the speed of your mobile broadband to the test to see if your Internet service provider is true to their promise.

Once you have checked the speed of your mobile broadband and find it unsatisfactory, give your broadband provider a call. Find out if there is anything they can do to improve your broadband speed. You may need to upgrade your modem or have a technician check your line. If there's no improvement you have the right to file a formal complaint to the company. You have the option to take your case to the small claims court in accordance with the Supply of Goods and Services Act if actions were taken but you are still not satisfied or the company failed to act on your official complaint. Or you may just want to switch to another broadband provider if all else failed. Check out the market for Internet service providers that offer faster and reliable speed. Ask around to find out if these providers deliver on their promise before signing up with them. Just always remember that optimum broadband speed is rarely achieved accurately so the thing to consider is which provider gives the most consistent speed.

A Colorful History in the Caribbean

The Caribbean Islands were first visited by Christopher Columbus in 1492. He found two indigenous tribes living there, the Caribs and the Arawaks. As you can imagine, the Caribbean was named after the Carib tribe. Although both tribes had their perspective skills, they were already engaged in war when he arrived. After not finding gold and other riches, Columbus brought back missionaries, builders and farmers to the islands to convert the natives. Things didn't go quite as planned and war with the natives nearly wiped the tribes out. Other countries soon followed, so along with Spanish influence you will find British, French and Dutch contributions in the food, culture, language and currency when you decide to include the Caribbean in your family vacation ideas.

One of the most colorful occupations to come out of the Caribbean is that of the buccaneers. The term comes from one of the languages of the Caribbean called Arawak. The word buccan is a wooden frame for smoking sea cows that the French turned into boucanier for French hunters who used the wooden frames for smoking the meat of feral cattle and pigs on the island of Hispaniola, which is now Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The British then took boucanier and changed it to buccaneer.

In about 1630, some of these French buccaneers were driven out of Hispaniola and fled to Tortuga, the very same as that in Pirates of the Caribbean. The Spaniards then tried to force them out of Tortuga but the buccaneers had been joined by other French, Dutch and English and instead of leaving, formed the first group of pirates or privateers as they liked to call themselves. These groups used small craft to attack Spanish galleons and soon became strong enough to sack mainland cities. It is not likely that you will come across any buccaneers at your Bahamas vacation rentals but the history of it can allow your imagination to run wild.

One scheme you won't have to imagine is that the English supported these buccaneers by legalizing their operation as licensed buccaneers. This was London's way of waging a low budget war on Spain. This philosophy did have some impact. Although the entire Caribbean was claimed by Spain the buccaneers helped to end this domination and other European countries moved in and claimed various islands. As you may guess once Spain was out of the picture, the buccaneers attacked others and were less tolerated. Due to this change in political environment, the demise of the pirates led to a safer shipping area.

The various colonies used these shipping lanes mainly for shipping sugar. Today you will find much more than sugar shipped along these lanes. One of the top incomes for the islands derives from bringing people in via boat or plane for wonderful Caribbean vacations on one many of the wonderful islands set in this fantastic wonderland with a colorful history.

If you are looking for something fun and interesting to add to your family vacation ideas then you may think of a vacation from your Bahamas vacation rentals that includes looking at old forts and buccaneer strongholds. You will find some fabulous Caribbean vacations at SuperClubs.com.
